...the home of fairies, magic, mythic and music.
Famous for it’s iconic music festival and various events during the Summer it’s clear to see why this wonderful Somerset town attracts so many visitors.
Every year (aside from the fallow year) the town plays home to thousands of party goers and festival enthusiasts who head to the world-famous Glastonbury festival. This place isn’t all about the music though it also supports some great charities such as Oxfam, Greenpeace and Water Aid.
This isn’t all that Glastonbury is famous for however, the Abbey plays host many events throughout the year including an extravaganza, which this year see’s The Specials headlining. Previous years have included Paulo Nutini, George Ezra and The Who.
If theatre is your thing, then the Abbey can provide this by the bucket load. This year, two of Shakespeare’s plays - Much to do About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet - will be shown in July. Instead, if you fancy an open air cinema event, in August you can watch Bohemian Rhapsody and Mama Mia in the same weekend!
Now, let’s talk about the history; Glastonbury was home to King Arthur, and many believe his burial place is in the Tor. If you feel energetic, you can walk to the top and take in the 360° views of Glastonbury and it’s surrounding towns and villages.
The high street itself is a unique place. You can visit one of the many coffee shops that cater for all, which are the perfect place to people watch - believe it or not, you might even see a fairy walking along or a Zombie.
Glastonbury has a friendly, relaxing vibe that is sure to bring out your inner zen!
