Let's get active in Oxfordshire!
Inspiring the local community

#OllyWithAster

We at Aster have many developments around Oxfordshire and wanted to engage with the local community and inpsire people to be active and take advantage of the great facilities available on their doorsteps.

After discovering how much the local community support Oxford United FC, we thought that a fun way to inspire people would be by partnering with the team and sponsoring game against Bradford City on the 16th March 2019. The partnership was able to provide a member of the community, plus nine friends, the chance to win a full VIP hospitality experience, the opportunity to meet the team, as well as the honour of choosing the man of the match… every football fans dream!

In order to reach people in the community, Aster used the hasthtag #OllyWithAster to engage with people across social media. The campaign was a huge success, with Nick Smith being chosen at random as the compeition winner. Nick was delighed that he won the competition and the match certainly wasn’t a let down either with Jamie Mackie scoring in the 94th minuite, the crowd hooked until the very end. Nick had a great day at Oxford United with his friends and decided he wanted to choose the 23 year old Defender, Sam Long to be the man of the match, who he later got to meet along with Karl Robinson too.

Taking to Twitter to express his gratitude, Nick tweeted: “What a great day. Big thanks to @Sales_Aster for the hospitality, brilliant way to spend a day watching Oxford & massive win to top it off!! Thanks to all my companions, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did x”. After speaking with Nick, the Aster team found out that Nick had recently lost his Dad and that the pair would watch Oxford United play together, so all in all what an inspiring day this must have been for our fitting winner!

There are various different sports facilities available around Oxfordshire and with the amazing new Boundary Park facilities in Didcot, there has never been a better time to be inspired and take part in some sporting activities that can improve both your mental health and fitness levels.
